St Ives Blemish Control Green Tea Scrub Review

2:49:00 PM

During my pregnancy, I have been getting pimples here and there. I guess it was hormonal. So last summer, around May I had to search for another facial scrub since the one I was using at the time did absolutely nothing at all.

I went to Watsons and checked out their skin care rack. I found this tube of St. Ives Blemish Control Green Tea Scrub. Seeing that green tea was the main ingredient, I immediately picked it up. I was glad that a small size tube was available.

Product Info from St. Ives
This scrub with 100% Naturally derived exfoliants and skin-soothing green tea gently fights blemishes and reduces redness & irritation caused by acne. The result is clear and calm skin.

Product Claims: Dermatologist Tested • Hypoallergenic • Non-Comedogenic • Dermatologist Tested • Does not contain animal ingredients • Formulated without Parabens and Phthalates

Key Ingredients: Green Tea, Olive Oil and Olive Leaf Extract, Silica (sand)

Retail Price: Php 187.00 for 4.5oz / Php 68.00 for 1 oz

I bought the 1oz size tube first to test it out. I use this every other day and I absolutely love it. I am glad that the beads are really fine and not gritty like I expected. The texture reminds me of an old favorite from St. Ives which they have already discontinued. You can read about it HERE.

Most St. Ives products are scented and the St. Ives Green Tea facial scrub is no exception. I honestly really like the scent of this scrub. However, some might find it overwhelming.

The big tube comes in a flip cap while
 the small size tube comes in a twist cap

What I like about it...
* inexpensive
* oil-free
* it really helped clear my acne marks
* definitely reduces redness, it reduced redness in my nose area
* has very fine beads so it is also perfect for sensitive skin
* has a mild, refreshing scent in my opinion
* my face feels soft and smooth after using the scrub
* not drying at all
* the label says it contains 1% salicylic acid, but I did not experience any sting at all
* did not experience allergies or irritation
* a little goes a long way, the small tube lasts for more than 2 months

What I don't like...
* none that I can think of

My rating: 4.5 / 5

I think I just found the perfect replacement for my old fave which was the St. Ives Daily Microdermabrasion. I love that this green tea scrub really does perform but it is gentle at the same time. Would definitely recommend this to you ladies. Just buy the 1 oz tube first to see if your skin works well with it.

Until next time.

Cheerios!

  6. I've been hearing good feedback about this scrub. I'll check it out then.

    Great review, by the way. Good to know there's a smaller tube that's also cheaper. I find St Ives products on the expensive side. :D

  10. I haven't used a facial scrub for the longest time. This review might just change that. :-) It's good that they have the small versions out in the market.
