First Impressions: Laura Geller Make Up

7:21:00 PM

I have seen the Laura Geller Makeup brand on popular online retail shops for years so I have always been curious about it. I finally had the chance to try out some of their products when a friend flew in from the US and gifted me with this Laura Geller Sparkling Rose Festive Makeup Collection...

I researched more about the Laura Geller makeup sets and found that she has a lot of these beautiful sets available which are reasonably priced. This 5-pc Sparkling Rose collection that I have, retailed for only $19 considering that this is a High-end brand.  I've been testing out these products for the past two weeks to see how they perform and so far I'm quite impressed.

Let's start with the Laura Geller Spackle Tinted Under Make-Up Primer in Champagne (made in USA). The product itself has a gel-like texture which makes it easy to apply. It actually works well as a primer, but I didn't quite like the fine shimmers that come with it since it sticks to the skin. (It kind of looks like I just played with body glitters for littler girls...hahaha) I applied my usual studio fix powder on top of the primer and some of the fine sparkles can still be seen. It all comes down to preference though, you may or may not like this.  My rating is 3 out of 5

Up next is the Laura Geller Baked Blush-n-Brighten in Pink Grapefruit (made in Italy). This is my favorite product in this collection. The texture is just divine. It feels super smooth and not chalky at all. It is very pigmented so I had to apply with a light hand, good thing it's easy to blend. Like most baked blushers this gives off a nice sheen on my cheeks but a notch higher. It eliminates the need to apply highlighter on my cheekbones. Definitely a must-try!  My rating is 5 out of 5

The box says "Swirls of liquid pigments are baked for 24 hours on a terracotta pan and finished by hand by Italian artisans, resulting in a glow-giving blush."

Next in line is the Laura Geller Glamlash Dramatic Volumizing Masacara in Black (made in Italy). Let me start off by staying I really like this mascara! It coats my lashes evenly, it is build-able and does not clump up. It lengthens and thickens my lashes well after about three coats. It does not smudge and lasts all day long. The lash applicator is slim which I prefer, since it helps with getting in to the roots of the lashes especially when applying mascara in the lower lash line. The best part is, this one's easy to remove even with my water-based makeup remover. My rating is 4 out of 5

Then there's the Laura Geller Italian Marble Lipstick in Berry Banana (made in Italy). The box says "Swirls of light and dark pigments create a vibrant depth of color on the lips, while it's unique formulation provides deeply smoothing and softening benefits, thanks to moisturizing emollient oils". It is exactly what it claims to be. It's a sheer and very moisturizing lipstick but definitely not sticky. This Berry Banana looks like a pale nude color when worn. And I must say I'm enjoying the Banana scent of this lipstick (yum!) I didn't notice any hint of berry in it though. I also would like to note that it's tasteless. It lasted a good 3 hours on my lips before it was completely gone. My rating is 3 out of 5

Lastly here's the Laura Geller Waterproof Eye Spackle Hues in Proscecco Pearl (made in Germany). It is an advanced primer and eyeshadow which prevents creasing and fading. Well, it definitely does what it claims to do. I tried wearing this alone as an eyeshadow and damn, this stuff does not move at all, I had to use a makeup remover to get it out of my eye. Works great as an eye primer as well. The only trick is that you need to apply this thinly, otherwise you'll have a hard time spreading it evenly. Because, when it sets there's no turning back. LOL  My rating is 4 out of 5

And of course I'm not ending this post without an obligatory FOTD of me wearing all the products in the Laura Geller Sparkling Rose 5 Piece Makeup Collection. Teehee ^_^

So, my verdict? It's Hollie approved! You really can't go wrong with this set for only $19 bucks. It's perfect for everyday use and for traveling. And oh I almost forgot to mention a that these products contains Antioxidants and White Tea Extracts to protect skin from environmental aggressors. For those who are curios, Laura Geller Beauty products are cruelty-free.

Until next time.
